I don't remember any of the book that well although I do remmber that I enjoyed reading it oh so long ago. Though I pretty much hated the movie version. The US edition had multi-colored text and illustrations making it all the more a unique reading experience.

Have not read any of Crane's books. I don't think I own any either. Maybe one paperback - The Cinnamon Murder? I vaguely recall seeing it a few weeks ago when I was digging through the paperback boxes in my book room. But the Chicago Public Library has a shelf full of her books - the old first editions, too.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5516189026477178777.post-73413974801376169172011-03-29T01:01:58.673+02:002011-03-29T01:01:58.673+02:00Particularly for The Frightened Stiff. The ones he did for Kelley Roos are absolutely brilliant!TomCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03415176301265218101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5516189026477178777.post-46919388667015189612011-03-28T22:35:44.790+02:002011-03-28T22:35:44.790+02:00Is the cover from a later edition? The book came out in '43, but the cover sure seems to reference Singin' in the Rain, which is from ten years later.Bob Houkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16982822149146722008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5516189026477178777.post-85947150993668214782011-03-28T21:56:25.392+02:002011-03-28T21:56:25.392+02:00Yeah, meh pretty much sums up the whole book for m...Yeah, meh pretty much sums up the whole book for me. It's not a thoroughly bad book; it just fails to deliver the goods as a detective story.

However, The Applegreen Cat, which is slated to be reissued this spring, received praise from Anthony Boucher – so maybe she was having an off-day with this book.TomCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03415176301265218101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5516189026477178777.post-32271533388510514702011-03-28T21:12:33.643+02:002011-03-28T21:12:33.643+02:00Wait a minute!
