I read a few more and I wasn't too keen on them. Muller does have a tendency to go all bleeding heart in her exploration of social injustices. But I guess that was the 1970s. It's understandable why Grafton and Paretsky get all the honors when the talk turns to pioneers in women private eye series characters. You have to read <i>The Three of Death</i> and some C&Q before you're going to read that one, because it's a crossover. And a very good one at that.
