However, you might like to know that someone in Hollywood probably remembered Landon. Batman: The Animated Series has an episode, entitled "Beware the Gray Ghost," in which Batman befriends a washed up actor (voiced by Adam West!) who played his childhood hero, The Gray Ghost. I was immediately reminded of that episode when reading about the Gray Phantom.

"Also, THE FORBIDDEN DOOR has a Fearn-like use of science and technology in an impossible problem portion of the plot..."

Thanks for the recommendation! You got me with the Fearn-like impossible crime portion, because I would like to read another Fearn-like mystery after Maurice Johnson's Damning Trifles. Somewhat of an alternative mystery you probably find interesting (reviewed it last month).

"Later tonight, I'll give him a page of his own!"

Great! I suppose he'll also be making an appearance on your blog? Also, THE FORBIDDEN DOOR has a Fearn-like use of science and technology in an impossible problem portion of the plot that foreshadows a standard technique commonplace in movie and TV production these days. I was flabbergasted by its inclusion in a book written in the 1920s. Seemed prescient in an H. G. Wells/Jules Verne manner.

Dozens of American writers and American immigrant writers are missing from the GAD Wiki because the majority of the database is made up of Australian and UK based writers whose work can be found on innumerable websites that cater to the UK based readership. I have added several US writers since I stumbled upon the wiki back in 2009. I haven't read a Landon book in a while otherwise I'm sure I would've added him too had I noticed he was missing. Later tonight, I'll give him a page of his own!

I've read a couple of the Gray Phantom books (similarities with Bruce Wayne and Batman are uncanny!) and several others without his series characters. I was obsessed with Landon in my pre-blog days. I have about twenty of his books as well as many pulp magazines with his Picaroon stories. He was immensely popular in his time and sold hundreds of books. His stories were regularly featured on the covers of the magazines so you know he was paid well.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.com
